The PH-5H is a high-current spring-loaded test probe from the generic PH family, used where a standard signal probe cannot carry the load — power rails, battery and charger contacts, motor drives and any node that has to be forced with amps rather than milliamps during functional test.
PH-family probes are physically much larger than the P50/P75/P100 signal probes and are specified with long travel and heavy springs, so one probe can span a deep or uneven target such as a connector shell or a heavy terminal. As a guide to the PH-5 body, its stablemate the PH-5B in this catalogue is specified at a 2.5 mm tip, a 10 A rating, a 200 g spring, 10 mm of working stroke and a 4.2 mm (165 mil) minimum centre distance on a 3.3 mm mounting hole. Treat any PH probe as a dedicated power contact: plan the fixture around its footprint rather than scattering it through a signal grid, and use the letter suffix to pick the tip geometry that suits the target.
