A PH-4 series high-current test probe with a B tip. High-current probes are used where a fixture has to deliver real power to the DUT rather than measure a signal: supply rails, battery and charger contacts, motor drives and load test. A standard ICT probe is the wrong tool for that job — its thin plunger, spring-in-path construction and small contact footprint add tens of milliohms and heat up under load — so a heavier barrel and a broader contact are used instead.
It is the sibling of the PH-4H: same series and construction, different tip form. In practice a fixture uses a small number of these on the power nets alongside a field of ordinary probes on the signal nets. Allow for their larger keep-out and higher individual spring force when laying out the probe plate, and keep the power path short — the probe is only one part of the total resistance between supply and DUT.
