Generic KG-300K-9 Switching Probe

A KG-300K-9 switching probe. A switching probe does not measure — it reports. Instead of carrying a signal back to the tester, it closes (or opens) an internal contact once its plunger has been pushed in past a set point, giving the test sequence a simple electrical yes/no answer to a mechanical question.

The usual application is presence and seating verification: confirming that a board is actually loaded in the fixture, that a connector is mated, that a heatsink or shield is fitted, or that the press has fully closed, before any power is applied or any measurement is trusted. Interlocking the test sequence to a switching probe is a cheap way to turn a whole class of mis-load failures into a clear operator message rather than a confusing string of failed measurements.
