The socket for the KG-300K-7 switching probe. It is fitted into the fixture's probe plate and holds the switching probe, so the probe can be withdrawn and replaced without disturbing the plate or the wiring behind it.
Splitting a switching contact into socket and probe is what makes the assembly maintainable: the socket and its connection stay put for the life of the fixture, while the probe — the part that wears, since it cycles mechanically on every board — is treated as a consumable. Order the probe, terminal and solder tab separately under the same KG-300K-7 designation.
