The Centalic PQ50-A-5.5GG is an ICT spring probe on 1.27 mm (50 mil) minimum centres, the fine-pitch member of Centalic's PQ range. It seats in a matching PQ50 receptacle in the probe plate, so probes can be swapped as they wear without rebuilding the fixture.
The A tip is cupped — a concave head with a raised rim rather than a point. The cup is shaped to receive the top of a round target: a solder bead, a through-hole lead end, a header pin or a component lead. The rim captures and centres the lead as the probe compresses, so contact does not depend on the fixture landing dead centre, and the load is spread over the rim rather than concentrated on a point. Choose it over the needle (B) tip wherever the target is domed or round; choose the needle instead for small flat pads. The 5.5GG suffix denotes the 150 gf (5.5 oz) spring, the firmest of the PQ50 options.
