It is built for targets that are big, not dense: battery and power terminals, large through-hole leads, screw posts and heavy connector contacts, where a 100 mil (2.54 mm) probe would be lost on the pad.

The 08 tip is a self-cleaning 90° cone. On a large round or irregular target the cone self-centres as the probe compresses and the conical flank wipes the surface, so contact does not depend on the fixture landing the probe exactly on centre. Being from the short/robust GKS family the 2.36 mm barrel is stiff enough to take side loading that would bend a fine probe, and the part is rated to 6 A. It plugs into a KS-004 receptacle and supports quick exchange.

08 90° conical, self-cleaning tip, ø3.96 mm (.155 in), CuBe, gold-plated

4.75 mm (187 mil) grid, barrel diameter 2.36 mm (.092 in), collar height 00

Total length 33.6 mm (1.32 in)

Working stroke 4.4 mm (.173 in), maximum stroke 6.35 mm (.25 in)

Spring force 1.5 N (5.39 ozf) at working stroke; pre-load 0.76 N

6 A rated current, typical resistance 20 mΩ

Contacts pads, vias and female connectors; plug-in mounting in KS-004, quick-exchange

Operating range −40 °C to +80 °C; RoHS-compliant
